SYMPTOMS & CAUSES OF DRY EYE

WHAT IS DRY EYE?

When we don’t produce enough tears to moisturise the eyes. Or when our tear film becomes damaged, causing tears to escape and dry spots to develop.

Two types of “dry” eye:

  • Aqueous Tear Deficient Dry Eye (ATDDE)
  • Evaporative Dry Eye (EDE) – majority of “dry” eye cases worldwide, largely associated with living environment and lifestyle

REGULAR SCREEN USAGE

Staring at digital screens ( tablets, smart phone, TV) cause the eyes to blink less. This can cause the tears to evaporate and lead to “dry” eye.

GOING THROUGH MENOPAUSE

Hormone changes can lead to a reduction in tear production, resulting in “dry” eye. The risk of developing “dry” eye is almost twice as likely for women than men.

ADULTS OVER THE AGE OF 50

From the age of 39, the quantity and quality of Hyaluronic acid ( HA) produced by the body decreases and, as we get older the eyes produce fewer tears.

When we don’t produce enough tears to moisturise the eyes.
Or when our tear film becomes damaged, causing tears to escape and dry spots to develop.

Two main types of “dry” eye:

  1. Aqueous Tear Deficient Dry Eye (ATDDE)
  2. Evaporative Dry Eye (EDE) – majority of “dry” eye cases worldwide, largely associated with living environment and lifestyle.
  1. Wearing contact lenses

  2. Digital eye strain from screens

  3. Over exposure to wind, sun and dust.

  4. Chlorinated water

  5. General strained and tired eyes.

The use of ROHTO EYE DROPS can assist in reducing Dry Eye, as well as:

  1. Reducing prolonged screen time
  2. Shielding the eyes from excessive sunlight, wind and dust
  3. Avoiding chlorinated water
  1. Poor tear stability/ surface damage
  2. Eye becomes irritated – Dry Eye
  3. Inflammation on the surface of the eye
  4. Decreased quality & quantity of tears

This cycle repeats, leading to more severe Dry Eye.

Tearshield Technology is a formulation designed to hydrate, protect and restore the natural tear film by working on all the layers of the tear. Thus addressing most aspects of dry eye and breaking the cycle of dry eye.
